Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Distinguished Scientist is the Director, Research Centre Imarat (RCI) and Programme Director, MRSAM since May 2013.

Dr Satheesh is an Aerospace Scientist well renowned for his R&D in Missile Systems and sustained contributions towards advancement of Aerospace technologies and industries in India. Joined in 1986, led the Conceptualization, Design, Development and product ionisation of Inertial Sensors, Navigation schemes, Algorithms Systems, Calibration methodologies, Sensor Models, Simulation along with development of Satellite Navigation Receivers and Hybrid Navigation Systems. Under his leadership, advanced products and varieties of Avionics systems have been produced and successfully flight tested in strategic programmes of the country. As Project Director, led the design and development of Ring Laser Gyro based INS System, MEMS based INS System, Sea-Guard Reference System and Ship Navigation system strengthening the country’s self-reliance in high accuracy and long range navigation and also successfully developed a 1000 kg class guided bomb.

His decades of expertise have been providing the necessary thrust for the programmes of national importance. As Director RCI, led the development of Avionics technologies in critical areas of Inertial Systems, Embedded Computers, Control, Real Time Software and Simulation, Power Supplies, RPF, Seekers, Antennae, Flight Instrumentation for various Defence programmes – Agni A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, Prithvi, Dhanush, Astra, Akash, underwater missiles, BrahMos, Nirbhay, Helina, Nag, MRSAM, Programme AD – PDV interceptor, Two stage Ship Launched Target, AAD and other defence programmes. He spearheaded a number of Technology Development, Mission Mode, S&T projects delivering variety of Systems to multiple Projects in different capacities. He led the development and production of GPS+GLONASS+GAGAN on Module (G3OM) receiver and System on Chip (SoC) bringing in quantum jump in miniaturization of Onboard Avionics; led the development of IIR Seeker for anti-tank applications and long range BMD applications. Played a crucial role in development of high accuracy accelerometers for the long range precision Navigation.

Dr Satheesh graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, Anantapur and received his MS Doctorate from JNTU, Hyderabad. Dr Satheesh is a globally renowned Navigation Scientist. As an Indian Defence Scientist, he holds the distinction of being inducted as as Fellow of Royal Institute of Navigation, London(FRIN), Royal Aeronautical Society, UK (FRAeS) and has been awarded the Full Member Diploma as a Foreign Member of the Academy of Navigation & Motion Control, Russia. He is an Honorary Fellow of Computer Society of India (Hon.FCSI) and Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE), Aeronautical Society of India (FAeSI), Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK (FIET), Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, USA (AFAIAA) and many other professional/ scientific bodies in the country and abroad. He is also an Honorary Member of Automatic Control Dynamic Optimization Society (ACDOS), the national member organisation of International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) in India

For his significant contributions to Defence Science Technology, Dr Satheesh received the prestigious Indian Science Congress Association Homi J. Bhabha Memorial Award from Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He is the first ever Defence Scientist working in India to receive the Silver Medal of Royal Aeronautical Society, UK and has been selected for the first IEI (India) and IEEE (USA) joint award for Engineering Excellence. He is also a recipient of the National Systems Gold Medal, Aeronautical Society of India Dr Biren Roy Space Science Design Award, Systems Society of India Vikram Award for realization of Systems of National importance, Astronautically Society of India Rocket Related Technologies Award, DRDO Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance, IETE B.V. Baliga Memorial Award, DRDO Path breaking Research Award, FAPCCI Outstanding Engineer Award and many other honours/ recognitions. He has been conferred with Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Science by Amity University Noida, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and many other leading Universities of the country.
